is this global warming?

Today it's in the 60s in New York. Tomorrow it's supposed to be in the 70s. Friday in the 80s. Saturday, the 90s.

That sounds more like "by the decade" sorority rush week theme parties than a weather forecast.

It's mid-August and people on the subway have that wardrobe confusion I usually associate with fall and spring -- someone in short sleeves and flip flops sitting next to someone in a turtleneck sweater and wool pants. It's hard to know who's right, especially with how quickly the target is moving this week.

  • I turned on my furnace Monday night. Yesterday, I turned my air conditioner back on. That's not supposed to happen until October.

  • It is a little schizophrenic here in Michigan as well. Friday commute was 'interesting' - with tornado sirens going off and people running to their car in mall parking lots. There was plenty of doomsday sort of dark cloud, a lightening a minute and buckets of water thrown at the car. The weather people on TV must have been ecstatic.

It has been sunny and lovely since Sunday. You can almost smell fall in the air though. Mornings are getting cool enough for a jacket. Hmmmm... would a leather jacket and high heel sandal be too much of a dichotomy?
